2M0X1 - MISSILE AND SPACE SYSTEMS ELECTRONIC MAINTENANCE AFSC Enlisted

Summary

Missile and Space Maintenance specialists are responsible for maintaining two legs of the United States’ nuclear triad and are crucial to the Air Force’s nuclear deterrence mission. Nuclear deterrence dissuades potential adversaries from initiating nuclear conflict by demonstrating the ability to respond with devastating nuclear force. These specialists maintain the weapon systems required to deliver a thermo-nuclear warhead on-time, and on targets up-to and over 6,000 miles away. Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and air-launched cruise missiles are crucial components of our nation’s nuclear arsenal. It’s the job of Missile and Space Systems Electronic Maintenance specialists to maintain, operate and supervise the maintenance of missiles, space lift boosters, payloads, guidance and control systems as well as nuclear command, control and communications systems. These Airmen also monitor, analyze and compile system performance data as well as troubleshoot and test research and development systems and support equipment.
