Air Traffic Controllers (1C1X1) are responsible for controlling en route and terminal air traffic by utilizing visual, radar, and non-radar means. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, supervising, and managing Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities to uphold these standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Air Traffic Management: Controls and regulates en route and terminal air traffic, issuing clearances, instructions, and advisories to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Operational Planning: Plans, organizes, and directs air traffic control activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Specialty Qualifications
- Knowledge: Mandatory understanding of ATC principles and procedures, aircraft flight characteristics, aeronautical charts, radar operations, communications systems, and meteorology. USAF certification as an ATC specialist is required.
- Education: High school completion with courses in English is desirable.
- Training: Must complete the ATC Apprentice course for initial qualification, with advanced training for higher levels of certification.
- Experience: Requires experience in controlling aircraft, with progressive responsibilities in supervising ATC operations and managing ATC facilities for higher-level qualifications.
