1C3X1 Command and Control Operations

Command Post specialists (1C3X1) manage and perform activities within fixed ground, mobile, and airborne command and control (C2) facilities, including installation and expeditionary command posts (CP), operations centers, rescue coordination centers, and higher echelon command centers. They ensure the provision of command, control, communications, and information support across the full spectrum of operations, from peacetime to crisis and wartime scenarios.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operational Support: Facilitates command and control actions for Homeland Security, National Defense, and Air Force operations, including support during emergencies and disasters.
  • Communications: Receives, processes, and disseminates emergency action messages and critical information to senior leaders and support agencies.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Establishes procedures for operational reports, defense readiness reporting systems, and international treaty compliance information.
  • Coordination: Coordinates search and rescue activities and ensures prompt response during emergency operations, including mobilization of resources and agency participation.
  • Security and Compliance: Supports CBRNE and conventional warning and reporting activities, ensuring operations center and CP policies and procedures compliance.

Specialty Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Proficiency in Air Force organization and administration, emergency management, command and control data systems, and security programs is mandatory. Understanding of automated data processing equipment and communication operations is essential.
  • Education: High school completion is required, with courses in oral communications and computer operations being desirable.
  • Training: Mandatory completion of the CP Apprentice Course for entry into this specialty.
