Operations Intelligence specialists (1N0X1) are pivotal in analyzing and disseminating intelligence information to support and protect U.S. and allied forces. They manage and evaluate information from multiple sources to develop intelligence on potential threats, advising commanders on the enemy’s capabilities and vulnerabilities. Their work supports all facets of Air Force operations, ensuring dominance in air, space, and cyberspace and supporting joint force, Department of Defense, and National Intelligence Agency operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and integrates intelligence data, providing comprehensive assessments to commanders on threats and ISR capabilities.
  • Produces all-source intelligence, situation estimates, and other reports to support mission planning.
  • Conducts intelligence briefings and debriefings, prepares mission reports, and participates in threat working groups.
  • Instructs personnel on intelligence collection/reporting requirements and procedures.
  • Assesses vulnerabilities of U.S. forces’ information systems and recommends measures to counter potential threats.
  • Participates in developing plans to exploit enemy vulnerabilities using Information Operations (IO) techniques.

Specialty Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Extensive understanding of intelligence organizations, systems, sources, and analytical methods is required. Familiarity with geographical, cultural, and military aspects of foreign countries, and proficiency in using automated data management systems is mandatory.
  • Education: Completion of high school with courses in public speaking, journalism, geography, modern world history, statistics, and mathematics is desirable.
  • Training: Mandatory completion of a basic operations intelligence course.
  • Experience: Experience in operations intelligence functions is required for advancement, with higher levels necessitating more extensive expertise in analyzing, evaluating, and disseminating intelligence data.
