Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) specialists (1N2X1) are tasked with acquiring, processing, identifying, analyzing, and reporting on electromagnetic emissions. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates and performs SIGINT activities including non-communication and communication intelligence production efforts.
  • Analyzes signals to support EW and Information Operations Technologies (IOT) operations.
  • Utilizes advanced analytical software to extract intelligence data from electromagnetic emissions.
  • Generates intelligence reports by interpreting and integrating signal information with other intelligence data.
  • Manages and supervises signals exploitation activities, ensuring alignment with national and tactical objectives.
  • Maintains databases of signal types and activities, coordinating closely with system collectors and customers to optimize intelligence production.

Specialty Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of intelligence and cryptologic support operations, electronic principles applicable to signals collection and analysis, communications networks, modulation theory, radio communications procedures, and the operation of electronic equipment.
  • Education: High school diploma with courses in electronics, physics, algebra, trigonometry, and computers is desirable.
  • Training: Mandatory completion of the Electronic Signals Intelligence course for the 1N2X1A specialty and the Communication Signals Intelligence Course for the 1N2X1C specialty.
  • Experience: Experience in SIGINT operations is necessary for progression, with higher levels requiring expertise in managing and supervising signals exploitation activities.
