1N7X1 Human Intelligence Specialist

Human Intelligence Specialists (1N7X1) are responsible for collecting and reporting intelligence information obtained from human sources in response to requirements. They screen documents and open-source materials to identify potential source leads, assess, debrief, and interrogate sources in English, and supervise interviews and interrogations conducted in foreign languages. These specialists perform controlled operations officer duties and are crucial in the intelligence collection and analysis process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Intelligence Collection: Collects intelligence from human sources, conducts screenings, debriefings, and interrogations, and prepares Intelligence Information Reports.
  • Source Assessment: Screens documents and materials to identify leads, assesses potential sources for value and validity, and conducts in-depth debriefings.
  • Report Preparation: Drafts and disseminates long-term and time-sensitive intelligence reports, ensuring appropriate security controls are practiced.
  • Controlled Operations: Performs duties as a controlled operations officer, managing and supervising human intelligence collection and dissemination activities.

Specialty Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Understanding of military and political data, interviewing, debriefing, and interrogating techniques, intelligence report writing, and dissemination procedures. Proficiency in word processing software and report writing is essential.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Courses in effective writing and speech are desirable, with college-level courses in English recommended.
  • Training: Mandatory completion of the 1NX Intelligence Fundamentals Course and the Defense Strategic Debriefing Course for the award of the AFSC.
  • Experience: Experience in performing and supervising human intelligence collection activities is required for advancement within the AFSC.
