1W0X2 Special Operations Weather

1W0X2 is the Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) for Special Operations Weather Technicians (SOWT). SOWTs are tactical observer/forecasters with ground combat capabilities. They work primarily with Air Force and Army Special Operations Forces. SOWTs provide tactical-level intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. They perform and manage the collection, analysis, and forecast of: Meteorological conditions Oceanographic conditions Space environmental conditions SOWTs are trained to operate in hostile or denied territory. They gather, assess, and interpret weather and environmental intelligence from forward deployed locations. SOWTs fall under the 720th Special Tactics Group within the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). Recruiters can enlist trainees directly into the 1W0X2 special operations weathermen career field.
