Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring passenger safety and managing in-flight emergencies
  • Conducting preflight, through-flight, and post-flight checks of aircraft equipment
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for passengers, including U.S. and foreign military and government leaders
  • Planning meals, purchasing food supplies, and preparing meals with culinary proficiency
  • Maintaining the aircraft’s cleanliness and performing loading and offloading tasks
  • Coordinating with airfield agencies, managing passenger and baggage inspections, and ensuring the safety and security procedures are followed
  • Supervising and directing aircrew training and flight attendant activities

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Required knowledge includes understanding of normal and emergency aircraft operations, emergency equipment, first aid, food handling, culinary arts, customer service, and communication.
  • Education: High school diploma with courses in home economics, customer service, and speech preferred.
  • Training: Completion of the Flight Attendant course is mandatory for the initial award of AFSC 1A631.
  • Experience: Progressive experience is required for advancement through the specialty, from mission planning and culinary skills to managing and directing flight attendant activities.
