Duties and Responsibilities:

2A6X2 technicians are tasked with:

  • Conducting maintenance on AGE, including diagnosing mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions.
  • Removing, disassembling, repairing, and reassembling AGE accessories and components.
  • Operating AGE towing vehicles and providing dispatch service for AGE to support aircraft maintenance.
  • Diagnosing malfunctions and performing repairs on AGE.
  • Using automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends and document maintenance actions.
  • Maintaining AGE external fuel and grounding systems and performing battery serviceability checks.

Specialty Qualifications:

Knowledge: Essential knowledge includes principles of electricity, electronics, mechanics, heating, refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulics, and engine systems. Specialists must be proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying equipment, interpreting technical publications, and managing hazardous materials.

Education: Completion of high school with courses in general science and industrial arts is desirable.

Training: Completion of the AGE initial skills course is mandatory for entry into this specialty.

Experience: Progression through the AFSC requires practical experience in inspecting, modifying, and repairing AGE, as well as experience in managing AGE functions and activities for higher-level qualifications.
