The 2T1X1 AFSC focuses on providing centralized, efficient, and economical organic ground transportation capabilities for the movement of personnel and cargo within the Air Force. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing ground transportation support to operational missions, operating and managing a variety of light and heavy-duty vehicles, administering the Department of Defense Official Use program, managing the installation’s pooled vehicle fleet, and performing preventative maintenance.

  • CCAF Degree: Transportation.

Entry Requirements for 2T1X1:

  • ASVAB Scores: Mechanical: 40.
  • Physical Strength: 50 lbs.
  • Other Requirements: Must possess a valid state driver’s license for operating GMVs as per AFI 24-301. Must maintain eligibility for worldwide deployment and mobilization. Normal color vision is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates and performs preventative maintenance on government motor vehicles.
  • Manages and directs ground transportation support, including planning and scheduling resources.
  • Provides transportation services for distinguished visitors and special events.
  • Administers the installation motor vehicle operator qualification and licensing program.
  • Makes official use determinations for government motor vehicles.
  • Supports deployment and redeployment actions, prepares for convoy operations, and operates vehicles in protective postures.
  • Partners with other functional communities for ground support capabilities.
  • Manages work centers, establishes performance standards, advises on vehicle availability and limitations, prepares budgets, allocates facilities and equipment, and investigates accidents.

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Knowledge Required: Safe operation of Air Force government motor vehicles, control center operations, operator qualification and licensing, transportation support agreements, contingency and mobility operations support, resource management, budget preparation, and contracted services monitoring.
  • Education: High school completion is desirable.
  • Training: Completion of the Vehicle Operators Apprentice course is mandatory.
