Overview of 2W0X1 – Munitions Systems AFSC

The 2W0X1 AFSC, also known as Munitions Systems specialists, are responsible for the safety, security, and accountability of all non-nuclear munitions and their related components. Their role encompasses a broad range of tasks from munitions production and materiel activities, identifying munitions and equipment requirements, to operating and maintaining automated data processing equipment for inspection, testing, and stockpile management. They also handle the storage, maintenance, assembly, issue, and delivery of assembled non-nuclear munitions and are involved in demilitarizing non-hazardous munitions.

  • CCAF Degree: Munitions Systems Technology.

Entry Requirements for 2W0X1:

  • ASVAB Scores: Mechanical: 60 OR General: 57.
  • Physical Strength: 60 lbs.
  • Other: Normal color vision, no record of emotional instability, and normal depth perception. Must not have been convicted of domestic violence and must have routine access to Secret materials.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Testing, assembling, and processing nonnuclear munitions.
  • Preparing munitions for aircraft loading and conducting safety checks.
  • Maintaining, reconditioning, repairing, and modifying munitions and munitions material handling equipment.
  • Inspecting munitions for serviceability and conducting quality assurance procedures.
  • Receiving, storing, handling, and transporting nonnuclear munitions.
  • Performing munitions materiel management and accounting functions.
  • Developing and implementing munitions materiel management concepts and procedures.
  • Complying with explosive, missile, and ground safety, security, and environmental directives.

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Knowledge Requirements: Comprehensive understanding of munitions composition, characteristics, safety, security, environmental requirements, and procedures; fusing, arming systems; and munitions material accounting systems.
  • Education: Completion of high school or General Education Development equivalency is mandatory.
  • Training: Mandatory completion of a basic munitions systems course.
