Requirements to Become a 2A2X1:

Duties and Responsibilities:

2A2X1 technicians are tasked with:

  • Operating and maintaining complex avionics systems for mission-critical communication, navigation, and mission execution.
  • Analyzing equipment to identify and isolate malfunctions in various avionics systems.
  • Performing installation, removal, checks, and repairs of avionics systems and line-replaceable units (LRU).
  • Managing off-equipment maintenance on selected avionics LRUs and maintaining specialized support equipment (SE).
  • Inspecting, evaluating, and ensuring the operational status and configuration of avionics systems and software.
  • Preparing aircraft for various mission profiles, including low altitude attack, precision bombing, covert operations, and reconnaissance.

Specialty Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, wiring, electronic circuit diagrams, and the theory and application of electronic, microprocessor, and data bus principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the theory of flight, navigation systems, radar and communication systems, and digital computer systems principles.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferably with courses in physics, computers, and mathematics.

Training:

  • Completion of the basic avionics systems course.
  • Advanced Wiring Maintenance Course and craftsman course as mandated by MAJCOM.

Experience:

  • Experience in isolating malfunctions, handling LRUs, and utilizing test equipment and ground support equipment for the maintenance of avionics systems.
