Duties and Responsibilities:
2A6X6 technicians are tasked with:
- Inspecting and troubleshooting aircraft E&E systems, including power units, landing gear systems, lighting, flight control, fuel control, air conditioning, cabin pressurization, oxygen systems, and more.
- Performing off-equipment maintenance on E&E components and test equipment.
- Maintaining, repairing, and fabricating electrical wiring, harnesses, and connectors.
- Using a variety of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and other test and support equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with technical publications and directives for E&E maintenance activities.
Specialty Qualifications:
Knowledge: Essential knowledge includes electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles related to E&E systems; maintenance directives; interpreting wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics; and managing hazardous materials.
Education: Completion of high school with courses in basic electronics, mathematics, general science, and mechanics is desirable.
Training: Mandatory completion of a basic aircraft E & E systems maintenance course for award of AFSC 2A636.
Experience:
- 2A656: Requires experience in maintaining electrical, electronic, and environmental systems.
- 2A676: Advanced experience includes supervising E & E maintenance functions.
