Personnel specialists manage, supervise, and lead military personnel and human resource programs. They analyze Air Force policy and provide recommendations to commanders, supervisors, and Airmen on benefits, entitlements, career progression, retention, and relocation programs. Additionally, they update and maintain personnel data systems, analyze data mismatches, and provide Air Force leadership with accurate data points to make force management decisions.

Tech School Duration and Location:

  • Tech School: 26 Days at Keesler AFB.
  • CCAF: Human Resources Management.

Requirements:

  • ASVAB: Administrative - 59.
  • Strength: 40 lbs.
  • Ability to speak distinctly.
  • Normal color vision.
  • No record of claustrophobia.
  • Secret clearance or similar environment access.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Air Force programs including assignments, promotions, evaluations, identification cards, separations, retirements, benefits, entitlements, retention, classification, awards, decorations, retraining, casualty, personnel reliability, and personnel readiness programs.
  • Determine program eligibility and counsel Airmen on career progression.
  • Manage and execute force management tools such as force management boards and selective reenlistment and bonus programs.
  • Oversee data analysis products and ensure the accuracy of both deployed and in-garrison personnel data.
  • Perform personnel actions including in and out processing, duty status reporting, leave management, and casualty reporting.
  • Monitor personnel activities for compliance with policies and directives and report discrepancies.
  • Perform Commanders Support Staff (CSS) personnel functions such as preparing and processing administrative support actions, managing leave web program, and maintaining suspense system for personnel actions and correspondence.
  • Perform Personnel Support for Contingency Operations (PERSCO) functions ensuring accountability and casualty reporting for deployed forces.

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures, preparing and maintaining records, assignment, promotion, customer service, quality force, personnel readiness, PERSCO, deployment/mobilization procedures, interviewing and counseling techniques, administrative communications, correspondence, messages, office management, organizational structure, terminology, benefit programs, and principles of personnel management.
  • Education: Completion of high school with courses in English composition and speech is desirable.
  • Training: Completion of a basic personnel course is mandatory, and the ability to operate a keyboard at a minimum rate of 25 words per minute (WPM).
  • Experience: Progression through different levels of experience involving qualification in previous AFSC and completion of all core and duty position tasks.
