4V0X1 Ophthalmic

4V0X1 is an Air Force Occupational Specialty Code (AFSC) for an ophthalmic technician. Ophthalmic technicians perform a variety of tasks in the optometry clinic, including: Performing and managing visual screening tests Assisting in patient treatment Processing prescriptions for military eyewear Ordering, fitting, and dispensing military eyewear Instructing patients on contact lens procedures Administering ophthalmic drops and ointments Applying ocular dressings Performing and managing optometry and ophthalmology clinic activities Ophthalmic technicians are responsible for many different activities in the optometry clinic. Spectacle related duties occupy a large amount of their daily schedule. Ophthalmic technicians must be knowledgeable in: Ocular anatomy Ophthalmic medications Visual physiology Optics Use and maintenance of ophthalmic instruments and testing equipment
