8B100 Military Training Leader

8B100 is the Air Force MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) for Military Training Leaders (MTLs). MTLs are appointed by the commander to provide oversight, administration, guidance, and mentorship. They counsel all airmen attending technical school on: Training or personal problems Military bearing, standards, and behavior MTLs also learn to assist NPS Airmen in their personal adjustment to military life. They learn about: Dress and personal appearance Individual differences Suicide awareness Human relations Counseling techniques Staff referral agencies The communicative process Voice characteristics MTLs go through a four-week course at Keesler Air Force Base for their initial training. The course teaches the role of the MTL in conducting military training and counseling of non-prior service Airmen attending technical training schools.
