9S100 Scientific Applications Specialist
9S100 is the Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) for a Scientific Applications Specialist. These specialists use technology to test and evaluate weapons of mass destruction. They gather data from chemical, biological, nuclear radiation, and other sources. They also perform the following duties: Data collection, analysis, and observation Acquisition, maintenance, research, and development Laboratory functions Fielding of prototype and operational sensors Developing unique assets Analyzing communications Creating documents Maintaining data and computer systems Scientific Applications Specialists use their skills in: Physics, Chemistry, Math, Data analytics, Engineering, Mechanics. As they gain experience, they are tasked with research and development assignments that enhance data-collection methods.
