11C Indirect Fire Infantryman
The 11C military occupational specialty (MOS) is Indirect Fire Infantryman. 11Cs are members of a mortar squad, section, or platoon. They are responsible for setting up, loading, and firing mortars. Mortars are the most powerful weapon for infantry units. They have the longest range and are the most devastating weapon system for infantry units.
11Cs also: Employ crew and individual weapons in ground combat Perform hand-to-hand combat drills Ensure communication nets are established and personnel use proper radiotelephone operating procedures Ensure platoon personnel are trained in their primary job assignments Ensure the required basic load and platoon equipment are on hand
11Cs attend 10 weeks of basic training and 14 weeks of advanced individual training (AIT). AIT includes hands-on simulated combat and classroom training.
