12N Horizontal Construction Engineer
The Army’s military occupational specialty (MOS) 12N is a horizontal construction engineer. These soldiers operate heavy equipment to complete construction projects. Their primary duty is to move earth. They use a variety of machines, including: Bulldozers, Backhoes, Excavators, Graders, Loaders, Trenchers, Scrapers.
The horizontal construction engineer may supervise or serve as a member of a squad, team, section, or platoon.
To become a horizontal construction engineer, you must: Complete 10 weeks of basic training Complete 9 weeks of advanced individual training Score a 90 on the ASVAB General Maintenance (GM) test
