12T Technical Engineer

The Army Technical Engineer Specialist (MOS 12T) works with other military roles at construction sites. They supervise or participate in construction site development, including: Technical investigation Surveying Drafting Developing construction plans and specifications Performing quality control inspections Testing construction materials in the field and in the laboratory

Technical Engineers also: Conduct land surveys Make maps Prepare detailed plans and drawings for construction projects Provide surveys and maps that are used to locate military targets and plot troop movements

Technical Engineers use CAD (computer-aided drafting) systems and software to draw topographical maps and charts. They also draw diagrams for electrical wiring and plumbing in structures.

To become a Technical Engineer, you must: Complete 10 weeks of Basic Training Complete 17 weeks of Advanced Individual Training Score 101 on the ASVAB Skilled Technical (ST)

Female recruits can complete basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Sill, or Fort Jackson.
