13R Field Artillery (FA) Weapons Locating Radar (WLR) Specialist
The Army MOS 13R is a Field Artillery Firefinder Radar Operator. They use a Firefinder, a specialized radar system, to detect enemy forces and alert other Army units to their location. The Firefinder uses radio and/or sound waves to detect mortars, tanks, planes, and other objects.
MOS 13Rs are responsible for: Operating or leading the operation of radar systems Leading, training, and supervising five soldiers in technical operations and maintenance of the radar system Assisting the radar technician in tactical operations Assuming command in the absence of the radar technician
Requirements for MOS 13R include: 10 weeks of Basic Training 8 weeks of Advanced Individual Training 98 ASVAB Score: Surveillance & Communications (SC)
MOS 13Rs train to operate and maintain the TPQ-50 Lightweight Counter Mortar and the TPQ-36 Counter Artillery Radar Firefinder radars.
