15B Aircraft Powerplant Repairer
The Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 15B is Aircraft Powerplant Repairer. The MOS 15B supervises, inspects, and performs maintenance on aircraft turbine engines and components.
Their duties include: Removing, replacing, cleaning, and storing engine assemblies or components Disassembling, repairing, adjusting, and performing diagnostics on turbine engines Assisting in troubleshooting engines and rigging engine controls Supervising the repair and replacement of all aircraft powerplant components Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft engines and their components Participating in maintenance test flights
After completing 10 weeks of basic combat training, MOS 15B soldiers attend advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. They are trained in turbine engine operation, troubleshooting, and removing entire engines from aircraft. They are also trained to perform diagnostic tests using a variety of tools and equipment.
The MOS 15B is an integral member of a team that inspects, services, and repairs Army helicopters.
