15U Medium Helicopter Repairer

The Army MOS 15U is a CH-47 Helicopter Repairer, also known as a Chinook mechanic. They are responsible for maintaining and inspecting the CH-47 helicopter to ensure it is safe to fly. The CH-47 is a key aircraft for transporting personnel, equipment, and supplies worldwide. It can also support soldiers in a variety of situations, including natural disaster relief and combat missions.

Duties of a CH-47 Helicopter Repairer include: Removing and installing engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, and mechanical flight controls Inspecting all parts of the helicopter, including the wings, fuselage, and tail Servicing and lubricating the aircraft and subsystems Preparing the aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks Performing scheduled inspections

After completing 10 weeks of Army basic combat training, soldiers attend advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. They are trained to identify and use tools of the trade, such as a torque wrench and propeller protractor.
