17E Electronic Warfare Specialist

The Army MOS 17E is an Electronic Warfare Specialist. They use electromagnetic and directed energy to control the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS). They plan and execute electronic warfare operations to defeat the enemy. They also advise and assist the commander or command Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO).

Electronic Warfare Specialists must meet minimum expectations to qualify and go through training. They may also supervise and control searchlight units and operate searchlights and associated equipment.

Electronic Warfare Specialists may: Test and monitor a threat environment Help program EW countermeasures Take part in electronic military operations Provide tactical advice Monitor the development of enemy EW capabilities
