18D Special Forces Medical Sergeant
The Army MOS 18D is a Special Forces Medical Sergeant. They are trained in trauma medicine, but also have knowledge of dentistry, veterinary care, and more. They use conventional and unconventional warfare tactics to provide medical care.
The MOS 18D has demanding physical requirements. They must be qualified divers, parachutists, and endurance runners. They must also pass a 50-meter swim test while wearing fatigues and combat boots.
The MOS 18D provides emergency, routine, and long-term medical care for detachment members and allied personnel. They also establish field medical facilities to support unconventional-warfare operations.
To become a MOS 18D, you must: Graduate from the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course (SFAS) Pass a 50-meter swim test, unassisted, wearing fatigues and combat boots The MOS 18D training consists of 44 weeks of formal classroom training and practice exercises.
