26A Network Systems Engineering
The U.S. Army’s Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 26A is for Network Systems Engineering. 26A officers are information technology (IT) network engineers who support military operations. They are responsible for engineering, assessment, validation, security architecture, integration, management, technology evaluation, project/program/contract management, and enterprise systems management. 26A officers enable the end-to-end transport of information through telecommunications networks.
The 26 series, also known as the Information Network Engineering Functional Area FA26, was formed in October 2015. The 26 series includes: Network Systems Engineering (AOC 26A) Information Systems Engineering (AOC 26B) Telecommunications Systems Engineer (formerly Functional Area 24A)
Soldiers are classified by Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) or Area of Concentration (AOC). MOS/AOC often changes over time as soldiers gain new competencies and are promoted.
