420A Human Resources Technician
The Army MOS 420A is a Human Resources Technician. They are the HR subject matter expert for a BCT, Brigade/HHBN STB, Division/Corps, ASCC, HRSC, and higher echelons within the Army structure. They perform duties as a leader in any HR technical or joint field of operations.
Some of the duties of a Human Resources Technician include: Preparing, evaluating, and initiating correspondence for military personnel and civilians Establishing policies and guidance Advising commanders on human resources issues and concerns Interpreting regulations Supervising HR personnel Ensuring the HR database is properly maintained, updated, and accurate Supervising administrative activities related to personnel management
To enter into this MOS, recruits must receive a minimum score of 100 on the General Technical (GT) and 90 on the Clerical (CL) portions of the ASVAB test. They must also be able to meet Secret security clearance.
The Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for MOS 42A is nine weeks long at the Soldier Support Institute at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
