56M Religious Affairs Specialist
The Army MOS 56M is a military occupational specialty (MOS) for Religious Affairs Specialists. These soldiers support the unit Chaplain and Commander in responding to the needs of soldiers, family members, and other authorized personnel. They act as counselors for their fellow soldiers and provide security to Army chaplains.
MOS 56M soldiers provide protection, coordination, and logistical support to the Chaplain during missions and everyday activities. They also support the Unit Ministry Team for worship services. In combat situations, they provide protection for the non-combatant Chaplain.
MOS 56M soldiers are responsible for: Safeguarding privileged communications Conducting crisis interventions Coordinating traumatic event management
MOS 56M soldiers can transition from their current specialty to the 56M MOS through the Religious Affairs Specialist MOS-T Course.
