59 Strategic Plans and Policy
The United States Army Strategist, or FA59, is a functional area of the United States Army. FA59 officers develop plans, strategies, and policy to guide the employment of the force. They also offer strategic education across the Department of Defense.
FA59 officers serve in positions at multiple levels within the US Armed Forces and the US Government. They can work in high-level staff positions within the Armed Forces and government agencies, and within Army schools and colleges.
FA59 officers develop expertise in creating, implementing, and articulating strategies. They also become adept at leading operational and institutional campaign planning.
FA59 officers are encouraged to pursue degrees in history, strategy, policy, international affairs, international security, regional specializations, economics, and advanced military topics.
