68C Practical Nursing Specialist

The Army Practical Nursing Specialist (MOS 68C) is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and stabilizing patients who are not critically injured. They work with physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel to provide preventative, therapeutic, and emergency care to soldiers and their families.

MOS 68C responsibilities include: Administering medication prescribed by a physician, both orally and via injections Changing dressings on wounds Assessing the patient’s condition and monitoring changes Obtaining vital signs Providing immunizations Recording medical history Coordinating patient discharge

MOS 68C candidates are transferred to Fort Sam Houston, Texas for Phase I of the 68C course. Phase I is 11 weeks, three days long and includes studying anatomy and physiology.

Enlisted soldiers can advance through the ranks with additional training and education.
