68Q Pharmacy Specialist
The Army MOS 68Q is a Pharmacy Specialist. These soldiers are responsible for preparing and dispensing medications and supplies. They work under the direction of a pharmacist or physician.
The tasks of a Pharmacy Specialist include: Storing supplies Cleaning equipment Delivering prescriptions Checking for completeness and correctness Calculating and annotating proper dosage Evaluating completed orders to ensure the integrity of the final product Providing information regarding availability, strength, and composition of medications to physicians or pharmacists
To enter this career, soldiers must complete all entry level testing, Basic Combat Training, and Advanced Individual Training. Helpful skills include: Interest in mathematics, chemistry, biology, physiology, and anatomy Experience with precise measurements and standards Ability to follow strict procedures and directions
With additional study and the completion of a written exam, you may qualify for certification as a pharmacy technician.
