68Y Eye Specialist
The Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 68Y is the Eye Specialist. Eye specialists work with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and ophthalmic specialists to care for patients with eye problems. They perform routine diagnostic tests and assist in the care and treatment of patients.
They also: Read spectacle prescriptions Order glasses and protective mask inserts Perform minor repairs and adjustments to spectacles Teach patients how to insert and remove glasses
Eye specialists also help manage large ophthalmology or optometry clinics. They supervise and provide technical guidance within the Army Medical Department and Army Special Staff Activities.
To become an Eye Specialist, you must: Complete 10 weeks of Basic Training Complete 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training Score 101 on the ASVAB Skilled Technical (ST) test Score 107 on the ASVAB General Technical (GT) test
