880A Marine Deck Officer
The Marine Deck Officer (MOS 880A) is a U.S. Army Warrant Officer who commands Army vessels. They are responsible for the proper operation of the vessel, including the crew’s discipline, readiness, and seaworthiness. They also navigate the vessel using nautical charts, area plotting sheets, compass, sextant, terrestrial bearings, and electronic navigational aids.
The Marine Deck Officer commands Class A1 vessels operating on lakes, bays, sounds, and coastal waters. They have crews of up to 14 Soldiers. They must know maritime law and have a working knowledge of international and inland rules of the road.
To be eligible for the Warrant Officer Program, you must meet the following requirements: Be a U.S. citizen Be a high school graduate or have a GED Have a GT Score of 110 or higher Have a final Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance
