88A Transportation, General
The Army MOS 88A is a Transportation Officer. Transportation Officers are responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling the movement of personnel, materiel, and personal property on commercial and military transport. They also command and control transportation operations and combined armed forces during land combat.
Transportation Officers are trained to be innovative and adaptive leaders who can support expeditionary forces. They learn skills such as: Loading and unloading Routes and navigation Terminal, seaport, highway, and rail operations
Transportation Officers are also responsible for coordinating the employment of Transportation Soldiers at all levels of command, from platoon to battalion and higher. They must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
It is desirable for Transportation Officers to have experience in two or more transportation modes, such as highway, rail, air, or water.
