91E Allied Trades Specialist
The Army MOS 91E is an Allied Trade Specialist, also known as a Machinist. They are responsible for supervising and performing the fabrication, repair, and modification of metallic and nonmetallic parts. They use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and advanced technology to complete their work. They also supervise metalworking shop activities.
MOS 91E soldiers operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment. They use machines such as engine lathes, utility grinders, power cutoff saws, armature undercutters, arbor and hydraulic presses, and drill presses. MOS refers to a specific job within the military. There are approximately 190 MOSs available for enlisted soldiers. Similar specialties are then divided into branches and fields.
Applicants who enlist as a 91E can expect to go to Basic Combat Training for 10 weeks. Once they complete that stage, they will be shipped to Fort Lee in Virginia for Advanced Individual Training as an Allied Trades Specialist.
