92L Petroleum Laboratory Specialist

The Army MOS 92L is a Petroleum Laboratory Specialist. These specialists supervise or conduct laboratory tests on petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POL) products. They perform physical and chemical tests on all types of fuels and lubricants. They also set up temporary or mobile laboratories to test oils, fuels, and greases in the field.

The petroleum laboratory specialist’s duties include: Supervising the receipt and testing of petroleum, oil, and lubricant samples Assigning duties, spot checking work quality, and instructing subordinates in techniques and procedures Identifying sources and types of contamination or deterioration and making recommendations for disposition Providing quality surveillance reports

The petroleum laboratory specialist’s job is important because they need to be able to test the fuel to make sure it’s suitable for use in military vehicles.
