There is no active online ACP application. New enrollments stopped February 8, 2024, and the program ended June 1, 2024. Old instructions to apply through AffordableConnectivity.gov or an ACP provider are no longer usable.
What to apply for instead
Lifeline has separate eligibility rules: household income at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, or participation in SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, or specified Tribal programs. Former ACP enrollment alone does not qualify a household.
Lifeline is a different program with different qualifying criteria. Applying does not reinstate an old ACP discount or guarantee a free device.
Current application steps
- Go to Lifeline Support and follow the instructions for your state. California, Oregon, and Texas use state-specific processes.
- Provide the identity and address details requested by the application.
- If automated verification is unsuccessful, submit the requested evidence of qualifying income or program participation.
- After approval, select a participating company serving your address and arrange service. Approval alone does not activate a plan.
- Review the monthly bill, device cost, service allowance, and renewal responsibilities before agreeing to an offer.
If you already had ACP
Ask your current provider what plan you have now and how much it costs. If you also have Lifeline, confirm whether it is still attached to that account. Do not assume you need a new Lifeline application or that you can claim two Lifeline discounts for the same household.
If you need a device
For a computer or tablet, check PCs for People and Human-I-T. These nonprofits publish their own eligibility and pricing rules. Low-cost devices are not necessarily free; any donated-device offer depends on funding and stock.
An offer for a specific phone or tablet should name the provider, price, condition, and current availability. The former ACP device discount cannot be claimed through an online enrollment form.
