Lifeline phone service and a free Assurance Wireless tablet are different claims. Do not assume approval for service includes a tablet, or use an old /acp application link.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) ended on June 1, 2024. Its internet and device discounts are no longer available, and new applications are closed.

Verify the current offer with Assurance Wireless

Start at Assurance Wireless’s official website and check offers for your address. Before submitting an application or paying a fee, confirm:

  • whether a tablet is actually offered and whether it is new or refurbished;
  • the full device price, shipping, activation, and taxes;
  • whether a paid line or minimum service term is required;
  • the monthly data allowance and any overage or speed limits;
  • how bill credits work, if applicable, and what you owe if you cancel;
  • return, warranty, and support arrangements.

A past ACP price is not evidence of today’s price. A device billed at $0 through installments or credits may still require years of paid service.

Can benefits help with service?

Lifeline has separate eligibility rules: household income at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, or participation in SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, or specified Tribal programs. Former ACP enrollment alone does not qualify a household.

Check USAC’s participating-company directory for your address before assuming a particular carrier or plan accepts Lifeline. The benefit lowers eligible service costs; it does not guarantee a tablet from Assurance Wireless.

Other ways to find a tablet

For a computer or tablet, check PCs for People and Human-I-T. These nonprofits publish their own eligibility and pricing rules. Low-cost devices are not necessarily free; any donated-device offer depends on funding and stock.

Ask your library or school about lending if you only need temporary access. Check that the device supports the apps you need and whether it requires Wi-Fi or a separate mobile-data subscription. Do not send documents to an expired ACP enrollment form.
