The LAV crewman plays a crucial role within the LAR battalion, offering both driving and primary maintenance skills for all mission role vehicles inherent to the battalion’s operations. Additionally, they are responsible for mastering the utilization of various weapons systems, including the 25mm chain gun, the coaxial and pintle-mounted 7.62mm machineguns, and thermal optics on the LAV-25 variant.
