6000 aircraft maintenance
The Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 6000 is for Basic Aircraft Maintenance Marines. Marines with this MOS provide support for the airframes and power plants of all aviation aircraft weapons systems. They also maintain and repair all systems on Marine Corps aircrafts, including airframes, radar, navigation equipment, and weapon systems.
The first two numbers of the MOS designate the primary position. For example, 60 is for mechanics, 61 is for helicopters, and 62 is for fixed-wing aircraft. After completing formal training, Marines are qualified to maintain airframes and aircraft components. They may also participate in a formal apprenticeship.
