6154 helicopter airframe mechanic
The Marine Corps MOS 6154 is for helicopter airframe mechanics. These mechanics inspect, maintain, and repair helicopter airframe systems. They are assigned to UH/AH-1 aircraft.
Helicopter airframe mechanics perform tasks such as: Metal work Composite repair Structural repair Hydraulics maintenance Removal, repair, and replacement of hydraulic and flight control components
Helicopter airframe mechanics need to have: Training experience with US Marine Corps (USMC) AH-1Z and UH-1Y Training and Readiness Manuals (T&R) Proficiency with MS Office and PowerPoint Ability to prioritize assignments and self-manage tasks Strong project management and problem-solving skills
To be eligible to serve as a Marine helicopter crew chief, you need to score 105 or higher in the mechanical maintenance section of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests. You also need to have normal color perception.
