6217 aircraft mechanic

The Marine Corps MOS 6217 is for fixed-wing aircraft mechanics who work on the F/A-18. These mechanics inspect and maintain the aircraft’s airframes and components, and may also assist with flight line operations. They use a variety of equipment and weapons to maintain and repair aircraft. They use hand and power tools, such as wrenches, pliers, and drills, to remove and install parts.

The aircraft maintenance occupational fields include direct and indirect support of the total air frames and power plant package of all aviation aircraft weapons systems.
