6218 aircraft mechanic
The Marine Corps MOS 6218 is for fixed-wing aircraft mechanics who work on the F-35B. They inspect and maintain aircraft airframes and components, and perform flight line operations. They also inspect, maintain, test, and repair aircraft safety equipment and systems, power plants, and power plant systems.
It can take 18 months to several years to become an aircraft mechanic, depending on the individual’s path and level of certification. Aircraft mechanics in the U.S. Marine Corps have a variety of post-military career options.
