The Marine Corps MOS 6227 is a fixed-wing aircraft power plants mechanic. They inspect, maintain, and repair all components of an aircraft power plant, including F-404 turbofan engines. They use a variety of equipment and weapons to maintain and repair aircraft. They use hand and power tools, such as wrenches, pliers, and drills, to remove and install parts.

Each MOS designates a specific system for which marines will be trained on.
