The Marine Corps MOS 7212 is for a Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Gunner. LAAD Gunners provide surface-to-air fire support for MAGTF and joint air defense assets using the Stinger Missile. They serve in Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD) units.
The MOS 7212 requires a Secret security clearance, and recruits must meet physical and medical requirements. Training includes Recruit Training, Combat Training, and coursework.
LAAD Gunners perform the following tasks: Receive, transport, handle, and maintain LAAD weapons Learn and follow standing operating procedures for the deployment and employment of LAAD weapons Maintain a working knowledge of threat aircraft characteristics and capabilities
