0534 - Female Engagement Officer

Summary

THIS IS AN OBSOLETE MOS, NO LONGER IN USE IN THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION OF THE MARINE CORPS.

THIS MOS IS MAINTAINED IN THE MOS MANUAL BECAUSE IT APPEARS IN THE RECORDS OF MARINES STILL ON ACTIVE DUTY OR THE RESERVES.

Female Engagement Officers assist the MAGTF commander to plan, coordinate, and conduct female engagements in environments where gender-based cultural norms may otherwise limit MAGTF access and effectiveness.

They ensure the civil, cultural and gender implications of all MAGTF missions are considered throughout the Marine Corps Planning Process.

Female Engagement Officers act as an interface between the MAGTF commander and a wide variety of civilian populations, agencies, and organizations.

While the majority of their efforts are focused on the female population engagements with male populations are encouraged and often garner more information relevant for mission success.
