0588 - Aviation Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) Planner

Summary

Aviation Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) Planners plan, integrate, coordinate, supervise, de-conflict, and assess actions principally by the Marine Corps and other aviation assess (but, also by organic and non-organic systems operating in other domains) that exploit, attack, and protect in and through the electromagnetic environment (EME) in support of naval and fleet marine force objectives.

Aviation EMSO Planners advocate for and integrate air offensive, defensive, and EMSO support capabilities in tactical and operational level plans, operations, and activities in support of information.

Operating primarily within the Marine aircraft wing (MAW) and Marine division, Aviation EMSO Planners advise commanders and staffs on the employment of aviation EMSO assets to synchronize aspects of electromagnetic attack (EA), electromagnetic support (ES), and electromagnetic protection (EP) in support of the commanders scheme of maneuver.

Aviation EMSO Planners maintain relationships with EMSO system subject matter experts (SMEs), as well as joint and coalition capability SMEs and planners.

Aviation EMSO Planners are also represented within the service headquarters and supporting establishment to support the development and integration of EMSO capabilities into manned and unmanned aviation platforms and operations.

Prerequisites

Must be a U.S.

citizen.

Security requirement: must meet sensitive compartmented information (SCI) eligibility guidelines based on a current single scope background investigation (SSBI)/T5 investigation.

Requirements

Must complete the Joint Electronic Warfare Theater Operations Course (JEWTOC) (F16ABB5), Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX.

Officers who have previously completed one of the following courses are qualified to serve as a EW/UAS Officers MOS: EA-6B Pilot Category I FRS Training Course (N26P3G4 or M04P3GB) Whidbey Island, WA.

EA-6B ECMO Category I FRS Training Course (N26P4G4 or M04P4GB) Whidbey Island, WA.

EA-6B Qualified Course (M04P3GB) MCAS Cherry Point, NC.

Waivers to any prerequisites or requirements must be submitted to and approved by the occupational field 73 manager, HQMC DC Aviation.
