0631 - Network Administrator

Summary

Network Administrators install operate and maintain local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) to enable command and control.

Typical duties include routing/switching configuration, cybersecurity, premise wiring, installation of network components.

They establish technical control sites, conduct fault analysis, circuit testing and end to end troubleshooting.

Additional responsibilities include, network monitoring and quality of service (QOS) to maintain adequate bandwidth utilization in of communication networks and data services.

Network Administrators will maintain records on activation/ deactivation of communications links and maintenance actions performed.

Marines will be familiar with routing protocols, virtual private networks (VPN), internet protocol security (IPSEC), subnetting, traffic monitoring and cybersecurity.

Skill progression training for Staff Sergeant through Corporal is the Network Supervisor Course located at Camp Pendleton (M10BNPB), Camp Lejeune (M03BNPG), and Okinawa (M22BNP4) at the Regional Communications Training Centers.

Marines in this MOS may be assigned to a BIC within their occupational field that has been coded with one or more DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work role codes.

Prerequisites

Must be a U.S.

citizen.

Must have normal color vision.

Must possess a CL score of 105 or EL score of 105 or higher.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Complete the Basic Communications Course (M09KJT1).

Requirements

Complete the Network Administrator Course (M09CVS1) at Twentynine Palms, CA.
