1721 - Cyberspace Warfare Operator

Summary

The Cyberspace Warfare Operator is familiar with all aspects of cyberspace maneuver operations.

They employ offensive and defensive cyber tools, tactics, techniques, and procedures.

They integrate effects into warfighting functions in order to achieve tactical, operational, and strategic objectives.

The Cyber Warfare Operator further provides the means to emulate tactics, techniques, and procedures used by known adversaries to identify unmitigated vulnerabilities through simulated exploitation or attacks on Department of Defense information systems.

Familiar with digital network concepts and analytical techniques that support tactical cyber operations.

Utilizing these skills to enumerate friendly environments, these operators search for and respond to targeted adversary presence within friendly terrain.

Marines in this MOS may be assigned to a BIC within their occupational field that has been coded with one or more DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work role codes.

Please reference DoDI 8140.10, DoDM 8140.10, and the MOS roadmap for additional training and certification requirements associated with these work role codes.

Prerequisites

Must be a U.S.

citizen.

Must possess a CL score of 110 or GT score of 110 or higher.

Accession Marines must possess a cyber-test score of 55 or higher.

Security requirement: Must meet sensitive compartmented information (SCI) eligibility guidelines based on a single scope background T5 investigation.

Must complete SCI Pre-Screen Interview with HQMC SSO for assignment qualification per DoN and HQMC SCI policies and procedures.

Must be willing to submit to a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination.

Lateral move additional requirements: Must complete NAVMC 11665.

Cyber test score is not required for lateral move.

Must be worldwide deployable at the time SNM is approved for lateral move into 1721 MOS.

Requirements

Complete the Joint Cyber Analysis Course (N23CUQ1), Pensacola, FL.

Complete the Cyber Operations Specialist Course (COSC) (A09BNV2), Ft Eisenhower, GA.

These requirements can be waived by the Deputy Commandant for Information upon examination of cyber workforce experience.
