1812 - Armor Marine

Summary

THIS IS AN OBSOLETE MOS, NO LONGER IN USE IN THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION OF THE MARINE CORPS.

THIS MOS IS MAINTAINED IN THE MOS MANUAL BECAUSE IT APPEARS IN THE RECORDS OF MARINES STILL ON ACTIVE DUTY.

As members of an M1A1 tank crew or unit, Armor Marines perform duties necessary for the proper maintenance, operation, and employment of the M1A1 Main Battle Tank (MBT).

These duties include preparing the tank, personnel, and supporting equipment to support training and combat operations, preparation of ammunition, acquiring targets, employment of organic tank weapons utilizing the fire control system, driving the tank, and conducting operator-level preventive and corrective maintenance.

Prerequisites

Must possess a GT score of 90 or higher.

Must have vision correctable to 20/20.

Must have normal color vision.

Must have a WS-B Water Survival Qualification.

Must meet initial strength test standards associated with PEF assignments as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to shipping to recruit training.

Must meet MOS classification standards as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to graduating from recruit training.

Security clearance requirements: must be eligible for a secret clearance.

Requirements

Complete the M1A1 Armor Crewmember Course (A03TBM2) at Ft Moore, GA.
